Cockroaches are nocturnal. Seeing one during the day often signals a large, overcrowded colony where individuals are being pushed out of hiding spots. This guide covers exactly what to do — from your first sighting to permanent elimination.

Step 1: Don't Panic — But Act Fast

A single cockroach sighting doesn't mean your home is dirty. Cockroaches enter through tiny gaps — pipe openings, door seals, ventilation grilles, and even through shared walls in terrace houses and condos across Setia Alam and Kota Kemuning.

However, you need to act quickly. A female German cockroach produces up to 400 offspring in her lifetime. Within weeks, a small problem becomes a serious infestation.

Step 2: Identify the Species

Malaysia has two main kitchen cockroach species:
